Our Mission

MOTIVATION

HCI is the brainchild of the president of the association, who has as motivation,

• A zeal to serve God and   humanity,
• Concern for the poor in a society where health care delivery is so expensive and hardly affordable by most,
• Concern for a society where many live below acceptable levels of human dignity due to poverty
• To alleviate the suffering of those affected or infected by HIV/AIDS
• Experiences acquired during previous participation in free health care delivery programs by Christian bodies and NGOs in Nigeria.

GOAL AND OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSOCIATION

The goal of HEALTH CARE INTERNATIONAL is to improve on  the  health  status ,
socio-economic  conditions as  well  as  promote  Evangelization  and  Spiritual  counseling   among the  poor. This, HCI hopes to achieve by meeting the following objectives:

• Provide low cost / free medical care services  to  the  poor,
• Promote activities that enhance the care  delivery  of  public  health  programs,
• Promote Evangelism  and  Spiritual  awareness  and  growth  especially   amongst  the  sick  and  their  relatives  and  friends,
• Promote  educational / professional  rehabilitation  amongst  those   needing  such,  especially  victims  of  teenage  pregnancies  and  child  abuse,
• Promote  family  planning  and  child  health  amongst  the  poor,
• Focus  media  awareness  on  issues regarding  prevailing  health  hazards,
• Influence  positively,  national  legislation  and  policy  on the  initiation  and  execution  of  public  health  programs,
•  
• Work  in  collaboration  with  schools  and  other  agencies ( National  and  International )  involved  in  health  care delivery and poverty alleviation

SCOPE OF ACTIVITIES

The activities of HEALTH CARE INTERNATIONAL shall therefore include among others   the following:

Immediate

• A head office and field offices to co-ordinate the activities of the association,
• Community health care delivery centres with a community health liaison office and associated Spiritual counseling services,
• Production and dissemination of IEC materials.
• Publication of a periodic newsletter / bulletin.

Long-term

• Training programs, especially Seminars, Health talks as well as formal training of community health personnel
• Out-reach programs i.e. medical mission projects involving health care delivery as well as Spiritual counseling and Evangelization,
• Educational / job rehabilitation programs.

          ACHIEVEMETS SO FAR include

• General Medical Consultations
• Diagnostic Laboratory for very basic tests
• Dispensary with basic/essential medications & supplies
• Observation wards
• Minor theatre.
• A counseling program for HIV/AIDS and reproductive health
• A community health education program
• A youth health program
